News & Events

Aug 21, 2009: Hosted by Lehigh University, the event will bring together experts and researchers from various engineering and scientific disciplines across academia, industry, and government to explore pressing needs and opportunities associated with cutting-edge research endeavors that are computational in nature, or depend upon intense computing resources for success.

Apr 07, 2008: A position is open for a maximum of four months: May to August 2008. Requirements: a graduate student or a post-doc who has been writing or making changes to a piece of computational software, has the source code available, and who has the interest in spending time doing a comprehensive test of their software.

Jan 15, 2008: A five-day course for engineering PhD Students & research assistants will be held at Pollack Mihály Faculty of Engineering, University of Pécs, Hungary. The course aims to provide an overview of the state of the art of high performance computing as applied to engineering applications. Special reference will be given to parallel, distributed and grid computing and how serial or sequential algorithms for engineering problems may be parallelized for the efficient solution of large scale problems in engineering, analysis, simulation and design.

Oct 11, 2007: IEEE Software seeks submissions for a special issue on the topic of scientific software development. By "scientific software development," we mean the development of software that directly supports the work of scientists in attempting to push back the boundaries of domains which are both complex and poorly understood.

Sep 25, 2007: A workshop on Privacy and Security by means of Artificial Intelligence will be held in Barcelona in conjunction with the ARES 2008 Conference. The aim of this workshop is to convene researchers in the areas of Security, Data Privacy and Artificial Intelligence, to collect the most recent advances in artificial intelligence techniques (i.e. neural networks, fuzzy systems, multi-agent systems, genetic algorithms, image analysis, clustering, etc), which are applied to the protection of privacy and security.

Sep 17, 2007: Dr. Andrew Pollard, Mechanical and Materials Engineering, leads a team of researchers searching for effective models to demonstrate the complicated dynamics of air flow through the human airway. A successful model will allow for new designs in puffers used to treat lung disease.

Sep 13, 2007: This five-day course for engineering PhD students & research assistants will be held at Pollack Mihály Faculty of Engineering, University of Pécs, Hungary from May 18-23, 2008. The objective is to provide an overview of the state of the art of high performance computing as applied to engineering applications. Special reference will be given to parallel, distributed and grid computing and how serial or sequential algorithms for engineering problems may be parallelized for the efficient solution of large scale problems in engineering, analysis, simulation and design.

Jun 28, 2007: Applications are invited for an EPSRC Industrial Case funded PhD studentship in experimental and computational Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance Mass Spectrometry (FT-ICR-MS).

Feb 01, 2007: Computational Science & Discovery is a new journal from the Institute of Physics Publishing. CSD will publish peer-reviewed articles from many subfields in physics, chemistry, biology, and applied science, and this multidisciplinary breadth will be a unique asset.

Jan 08, 2007: The Society for Computational Economics' 13th International Conference on Computing in Economics and Finance will take place in Montréal, Quebec, Canada on June 14 - 16, 2007.

Jan 08, 2007: Computational Science and Engineering is a rapidly growing multidisciplinary field that employs advanced computation to understand and solve complex problems. Recognizing the growing importance of and interest in CS&E, the SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing (SISC) will devote a special issue to innovative research papers in CS&E.

Jan 08, 2007: The International Conference on Unconventional Computation will take place Aug 13-17, 2007 at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. The event is organised by the School of Computing, Queen's University and CDMTCS, The University of Auckland.

Jan 04, 2007: The School of Computational Science at Florida State University has developed innovative, interdisciplinary graduate degree programs in Computational Science. The new M.S. and Ph.D. programs are ideally suited for students that are interested both in developing new computational tools and in solving science and engineering problems.

Jan 03, 2007: Asia Modelling Symposium international conference aims to provide an excellent opportunity to share and exchange technologies and applications in the modelling and simulation fields for professionals, engineers, academics and industrial people worldwide.

Jan 02, 2007: HPCS (High Performance Computing Symposium) is a multidisciplinary conference that focuses on new and exciting scientific and technical work involving High Performance Computing. The theme for HPCS 2007 is "Transforming the Face of Research". The conference will be held in Saskatoon, SK at the University of Saskatchwan from May 13-16, 2007.

Jan 02, 2007: The Grid conference series is an annual international meeting that brings together a community of researchers, developers, practitioners, and users involved with Grid technology. The objective of the meeting is to serve as both the premier conference presenting best Grid research and a forum where new concepts can be introduced and explored.
